Burned Out, Tapped Out
May 21, 2024I am so burned out…something has to change.
Firstly, we really want to acknowledge you here. There are a million reasons why nurses are burning out at higher and higher rates.
“I have only been doing this for five years, I shouldn’t feel this way”
“I only work part-time, I should be able to handle this”
“Maybe I will switch, roles, units, specialties, travel etc….that will help!”
“I want to sell everything and just travel for a while”
“I know…I will go back to school and become a CRNA, or NP, the grass will be greener there”
Maybe you were like me and found yourself googling…”What other jobs can an RN do?”
Here is the thing. WE NEED HEALTHY COMPETENT NURSES. If we don’t then when we inevitably find ourselves in need of medical care we all feel vulnerable.
Having walked 500+ RN’s through this process I can tell you a few things are for certain.
- There is a way for you to feel better in the current situation you are in.
- Most likely it won’t be where you stay forever, but there is way to feel better now.
Going through nurse coaching certification, and especially going through The Nurse Life Coach Academy training, you will experience personal growth in a way that you cannot imagine.
You cannot learn to be a Nurse Coach without facing your own life challenges. You will learn about limiting beliefs, self-care, stress management, and mindfulness. This is really, really helpful to the nurse who is burnt out.
You will also come face to face with your own dreams, your life purpose, and your strengths. This realization may or may not lead you to change the way you earn a living. Nurse Coaches tend to become better employees, parents, partners, friends, and humans. Mostly because they take a moment and put the oxygen mask on themselves while going through training.
The most unexpected outcome for me from certification was the deep realization that I could really create myself and my life into anything I want. (Here I am almost six years later as the co-founder of several companies to pay this gift forward).
Burn out is on the rise because the demand on RN’s has been going up for almost 25 years. It’s incremental, but now it is really at a fever pitch. We all know something has to change, and from our opinion at NLCA…it starts from you the RN changing from the inside.
May I say something so bold to you now.
If you are reading this. There is a reason. If you feel like there has to be something more for you…you are 100% correct.
Love,
Laura
